Got Swag...

So I've been talking about fashion for quite some time now. My cousin and I decided to take the 30 for 30 challenge initiated by fashion blogger at KendiEveryday.blogspot.com. Right in time for the holiday season. Let's do this.

Check her out..

After "Liking" the Limited's page, I stumbled across this fan's picture:

Heck yeah... girl nailed everything I wanted. Her blog is as follows:

I suggest visiting it- I like it because it's not professionally shot yet her outfits are stand alone stylish. How dare she use my favorite color palette against me to fall in love with her style: turquoise, red, and white. Sigh.

New Dress Code

When I was designing and sewing Mustard(the Mustard/black/white fabric flower in the previous post), I was worried that the color was going to be a hard sell. Come to think of it, it is Fall now and now I am dying for a mustard colored pencil skirt.

Since I started my new corporate marketing gig, I've been on the fence of how to dress. On the one hand, I need to dress business professional but on the other, I am overly creative and express myself through a million ways, outfit included. While Anthropologie's catalogs have made my mouth water and yes, they do include pencil skirts with nice tops, it is ultimately fit for a fashion industry and not in financing. So where is my happy medium of combining creative plus professional? Simple. Stick with bold, statement colors that are a good fit with a unique texture. Combine that with a sharp attitude and I'm sure my 3 Cs (CEO, COO, and CFO) can see my creative nature while being professional. Problem is, these pieces are not for the frugal- I'm working hard to shift my college-budget mindset to investment pieces. *gasp*

Also since I've started, my lifestyle seems to have changed dramatically. I didn't have any business-professional clothes and couldn't wear heals past 10 minutes to save a rabbit's life.
I used to dress like this:
Now heels are second nature to me since I wear them everyday. I get up very early and get to work with more time than I thought imaginable with my personality type. The Limited is now my favorite store(well, since Lotus Boutique closed in Pensacola). What the hey?! I guess this is what we call transition. But I am still designing hair pieces- keeps my creative juices flowing in the corporate world. Funny thing is, I wear my funky hairpieces to work sometimes- let's see what's appropriate!

Below are some of my comments relating to the outfit and piece.

{Approachable} This outfit is perfect for me in terms of blending the organic part of my personality and looking cute as well. I would wear this in the Spring but not for board meetings. It is not bold enough for me unless the jacket is taken off- the green really softens the entire look and is wonderful for meeting people. I think staying away from pastels is a better idea in terms of engaging a bold appearance.

{Bold, Textured, Classy} Ok so I mentioned not going into the Anthropologie look but this piece is to die for. Add a ruffly white top to balance out the skirt's petals and some brown mules, this piece is a must have. Too bad I don't want to shell out $80 for it. But, it does meet all 3 of my rules: Classic shape, unique element, bold color.

{Color} Again, I am all for bold colors. The Kelly green on the left is a good color to wear. Also I love the outfit in the middle. Yes, I've been going to a million online sites to find the perfect yellow/mustard pencil skirt. This image was available on Google but not on the website. I was so deadset on saving this image that I zoomed in ("Ctl" + "+" many times) and saved it as a screenshot. Forgive the pixels but understand my concept.
{Classy} This is definitely Audrey Hepburn-inspired but modernized for the workforce. Simple Navy shirt with cute detailing plus an off-white pencil with little buttons? Yes, please. Again, I guarantee the skirt is pretty pricey but am thinking I'll have to add it to my closet.

{Texture} Read: check out the ruffles and bold blue color of this woman's top. If you can't tell, I'm a sucker for pencils so anything tucked into one is FTW for me. Our Dress Code JUST changed to a "Dress Professional" policy as opposed to the more-strict code we had before where we couldn't wear sleeveless and had to wear pantyhose.

New Shots

Meet Mustard

now available on entwinedhair.etsy.com
I(Crystal B.) met up with Crystal Belle of CrystalBellePhotography in downtown Seville Quarter last Thursday morning to shoot just the hair pieces. C.Belle is so diligent and professional- she already exceeded my expectations with the original shoot but she went beyond that to do close-up shots of the pieces! Alas she was the one who suggested it and I am thrilled. Though I've only seen 3 of the pieces from that shoot, they already make my mouth water with cuteness. Funny enough, I wasn't sure how the Mustard flower would look against a black box that read "Hazard" but it was quite stunning. The industrial nature of the black box pulled some of the organic elements of the flower piece into a nice juxtaposition.

Oooh Oooh!! I finally ordered some business cards from the company I've been dying to try: Moo.com. For ADD people like me, I can never settle on one look for a business card. I always want to show different facets of my work but realize it is fiscally impossible and an utter waste of resources. Moo.com allows artists to have one side of the business card identical(info, logo goes
here); on the other side, you can upload up to 50 DIFFERENT PICTURES and possibly have 50 different cards! I ordered 50 with roughly 17 different pics. I loved Mustard so much that I added 3 so that I would have a higher quantity of M. I am finicky- I knew that if I didn't pick only that ones that I wanted, that I would end up keeping 25 cards and the other 25 would be killing me, trying to pick which one to give to people. I already know I'm going to have a problem when they get here NOV 4! I LOVE LOVE having my stuff printed. It's like a graphic designer's Christmas.

I say, why don't you follow me into the forest? I'd love to show you where the rest of the butterflies meet.

09.29.10. love. Tea Party

Jenni heading to a tea party.

Oh, I seemed to have left my pearls at home dear.

No worries, a dotty necklace will do.

But what about my little hat? Whatever shall I do?

No worries, the feathery mini hat will be your savior.

Enjoy your tea party Jenni!

Behind the Scenes at the En*twined photoshoot

I can't help it.... but I just had to give you guys a sneak peak of how the shoot went. It was so amazing- the weather was perfect, the girls looked like little Anthropologie fairies in perfect boho-chic, their hair was big and wavy and just.... sigh. It was so interesting seeing my vision come to life! I ended up giving some pieces to the girls as thanks!

Kimber was so sweet, she asked if I started doing hair pieces because I was a stylist. I'm like, "Wha- oh no, my friend D and I just started doing them for my wedding. I don't even know what stylists do!"

Overall, it was a blast for me- maybe because I didn't have to do the work and I got to play dress up for the mods. Swoon...

The girls at en*twined are SUPER excited to have Crystal from Crystal Belle Photography shoot our new line at the end of this month! Crystal does some wonderful shots, especially with children. The models she enlisted to do the shoot are gorgeous as well, Kimber and Jenni, both of whom have professional experience.

Looking out

Tomorrow's the big day! March 26-27 from 10 am-5pm. Booth 25 at UWF's Festival on the Green. I think the date and time has been stressed enough lol, but only because I feel that these hair pieces will be able to be of use to you ( the public lol ). They are pretty, and they are glamorous; however, taking these points aside...girls, you know that feeling you get after you've gotten a great haircut, or you get up in the morning and somehow, you just feel pretty? lol. Perhaps these hair pieces can give that je ne sais quoi feeling too. To explain this thought: when I was a kid, I was this thin, gawky individual. Pretty awkward kid if you ask me lol. However, I still remember that day when my mom bought me a new dress to wear for school. I remember feeling so pretty that day and it just made me feel amazing. Good self-esteem is something originating from within; however, all it took to make me feel pretty that day was that new dress, and that my friends is the je ne sais quoi feeling I am referring to : )

Growth

Booth 25 at the Festival on the Green at the University of West Florida this year! Come visit, have a browse, stare these adornments down! : ) This hair piece is a favorite of the day. Sometimes, simplicity is happiness. The combination of the pink and green colors added with the touch of the centered white floral, gives the recipient a touch of spring. And when I think of spring, I think of new beginnings, and a time for things to bloom.

Sweets

Eye candy of the day..ooh la la..(whistle)...Looks so real doesn't it? That's because it is. Jokes aside, the neutral colors of the butterfly's wings in contrast with the vibrant red hue of the stem, would make any hair color "pop."

Realize

With the weather being so beautiful here lately in pensacola, florida...it's giving me the notion to truly sit out and enjoy the smaller things in life. The way the birds chirp, the flow of the wind, and the way the grass and trees smell, are something that truly help to define gifts that we as people, are able to experience and draw inspiration appreciation from. This brings me to the hair adornments that Duong and Crystal have created. They remind me of being able to take nature's work, and putting all of that inspiration, into a physical form... that physical form being their hair piece collection. March 26+27 @ UWF Festival on the Green from 10am-5pm. Come see and experience.

Feather got bite

Aesthetics for your hair. I guess that's another way you can call them. Sometimes, we girls just want our hair to make a statement as much as our overall beauty do lol.

Whimsies

With Duong and Crystal’s collaboration, this brings the start of one of many of head adornments which take on a whimsical approach of incorporating nature with a modern sensibility. These pieces will be displayed and can be purchased at the University of West Florida's annual festival: Festival on the Green, during March 26-27 from 10am-5pm. For more details about these hair pieces, contact: entwinedhair@gmail.com. For more information on the Festival on the Green, go to http://www.uwf.edu/festival.
